Dr. Reed was born and raised in the Mountain State of West Virginia. Growing up as an avid athlete, his interest in dentistry was spurred by a long list of oral injuries sustained while playing sports. He always knew that he wanted to help people, and seeing his wonderful dentist piece his grin back together with unwavering kindness, understanding, and ambition confirmed his calling in caring for smiles.
Dr. Reed graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology from West Virginia University, and went on to become a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, which only admits 5% of each graduating class throughout the country.
After graduation, Dr. Reed proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for seven years. During his time in the Army, he completed a one-year residency in general dentistry at Fort Campbell, KY. He took his clinical skills to the next level by completing a two-year advanced residency in comprehensive dentistry at Fort Bragg, NC. He also earned a doctorate-level Master of Science degree in oral biology at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.
Flash forward to today, and Dr. Reed couldn’t feel happier to be back in West Virginia doing what he loves most as the owner of Reed Dental. With his profound experience being on the patient’s side of dental care, there’s essentially no procedure which he performs for his community that he hasn’t received himself. Dr. Reed sees every day as an opportunity to relate to his patients with sincere, empathetic care and transform their quality of life with a healthy, confident smile.
Outside of the office, he loves spending time with his family. Dr. Reed and his supportive wife, Erin, are excited to establish deep roots in Charleston where they’re raising their two kiddos, Jackson and Kinley. You can also find him staying active through CrossFit, cycling and skiing in his home state’s great outdoors, and cheering on the WVU Mountaineers!
Dr. Bob is a West Virginia native with over 34 years of experience in dentistry. He earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from West Virginia University in 1986 before teaming up with his brother, Dr. Stewart Bloom, as a family dentist.
With his kindhearted approach and dedication to exceptional patient care, Dr. Bob brings his wealth of knowledge to the table to keep the Charleston community smiling with radiant oral health. He’s grateful for the long-term friendships he’s developed with his patients, and continues to ensure every individual in his care feels seen, heard, and valued.
In his free time, Dr. Bob enjoys playing golf and cherishing moments spent with his family and friends. He has served as a member of many well-respected organizations, including the Foremost Credentialing Committee, Charleston Dental Study Group, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Bloom grew up in Charleston, WV and has delivered friendly, gentle dental care for more than 42 years. He majored in biology and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry.
When he opened his practice in 1979, it was called Bloom Family Dentistry. Today, he feels thrilled and thankful to pass his practice on to Dr. Reed. Partnering alongside him, Dr. Bloom continues to provide the most comfortable and enjoyable dental experience for new and existing patients alike right here at Reed Dental.
Outside of caring for patients, there’s nothing Dr. Bloom loves more than being surrounded by his closest family and friends. He is a member of the Charleston Dental Study Club and the American Dental Association, and he regularly volunteers at the Healthrite Dental Clinic in Charleston.
